I think the purpose of this project was to look at certain subjects and symbols and learn more about what they mean. Each symbol puts more meaning into just the one worde that is being given. It puts a better understanding of the situation and why these things where in the story. The symbols give the motifs more meaning and better understandings for the reader.
The first symbol for Tim Johnson was that "Tim was a liver-colored bird dog, The pet of maycomb." I thought this was important because I think that some readers just think he is a morbid dog. They don't realize that he was once the dog of maycomb and did not have rabies. I think that this quote from the book gives the reader a new perspective of the dog. I also think that this symbol helps the motif because it shows what the dog used to be like compared to later when it is shot. Also if you look in the picture above there is a more healthy looking dog that we thought could be a symbol of what Tim Johnson used to be like. That is my reasoning for putting that symbol of a quote to help support the motif.
The second symbol for Tim Johnson was the next quote that stated "Tim Johnson right legs were shorter than his left legs. I think this symbol explains how Tim is know as a morbid dog. I also think this helps put a better picture in your head when he is about to be shot. It also shows why they may have shot him to put him out of his pain. I also think that that with this quote it makes you think about how he could look like a mad dog.
I think the symbols of the two snowmans were very good symbols for morphadite. I think it should good meaning of how the people lived in Maycomb. The kids made a snowman and put dirt under it. The snowman started out white but when the snow melted it was brown from the dirt. The people did not like this for most of the white folk did not like the blacks in there community. So they all thought it was racist and we thought it would be a good symbol for morphadite.
The last symbol was the mocking bird and we put innocence. We thought this was a good idea because the book says that you should never kill a mocking bird because they do nothing wrong. They just sit there and sing all day so there for we thought a mockingbird has to be innocent.
I think that all the motifs were great ways to put more meaning into the symbols. A motif makes people create a better picture and understanding of what the symbol is trying to represent. Without motifs we would just have symbols that you would have to just make inferences about.
